Northern Soul DJ Finlay Keates will be part of the line-up for Soul Sunday at Warrington Irish Club on Sunday 29 November.

The event runs from 1pm to 10pm and is organised by promoter and DJ Richard Ford, according to details supplied by Northern Groove.

Keates plays original-vinyl soul sets, drawing on Northern Soul as well as funk, disco, boogie, R&B and Motown.

A young DJ drawn to Northern Soul

His supplied biography describes an interest in Northern Soul that began at the age of 11, after attending an event at Whitby’s 1891 Chapel on the Hill.

He subsequently learned to dance and began DJing, developing sets built around vinyl records and learning from more experienced people on the scene.

The biography records appearances in Whitby, Hull and at the Skegness Weekender, alongside radio and promotional work. The Warrington date adds another opportunity for local soul fans to hear him play.

Warrington date and times

Northern Groove says the other DJs include Alan Christy, Dave Huey Houston, Ste Upton, Richard Ford and Carl Farrington.

No ticket price or booking link was included in the supplied announcement, so the event should not be assumed to be free.
