Warrington Wolves have extended their winning run to three games with a 30-10 victory over York Knights in the Betfred Super League.
The Wire dominated the second half to secure the two points, keeping York scoreless after the break. Five tries crossed the line for Warrington, with Josh Thewlis, Sam Stone, Ewan Irwin, Danny Walker and Arron Lindop all touching down. Irwin added five goals.
York struck first through Paul McShane in the opening two minutes, with Jon Bennison grabbing a second try. Warrington responded with Thewlis' effort before Stone retook the lead with a crash into the advertising boards following George Williams' kick. Irwin then scored a sensational solo try, breaking the line and running 40 metres to dot down.
Williams Returns After Four-Month Absence
The standout pre-match story was captain George Williams' return to the starting line-up after four months sidelined by a neck injury. Arron Lindop and Sam Stone also made comebacks.
Walker extended Warrington's advantage on 52 minutes with a scoot from dummy half. Irwin appeared to have added a second try shortly after, but the video referee overturned the decision, claiming James Bentley had ripped the ball out of Denive Balmforth's hand in the build-up.
Lindop marked his return in the final stages by crashing over in the corner to seal the win.
The victory moves Warrington up to third place in the Super League with five games remaining.
