Young performers in Warrington are preparing to take to the stage as students at FAME Creative Talent get ready for their upcoming showcase in November. Students have been rehearsing scenes and performances inspired by popular musicals including Frozen and Wicked, with excitement building among both the young performers and their families.
For the students involved, the showcase represents more than an opportunity to perform. The weeks of rehearsals, learning lines, singing, working together and eventually stepping onto a stage can play an important role in helping young people develop confidence, communication skills and self-belief.
Building confidence through performing arts
FAME Creative Talent, based in Warrington, provides performing arts training for children and young people through acting, singing, musical theatre and performance. While some students arrive with ambitions of working professionally within the performing arts industry, others join simply because they enjoy performing or want to become more confident.

Performing in front of other people can initially feel daunting, particularly for younger students. Regular classes provide a supportive environment where children can gradually become more comfortable expressing themselves, speaking in front of others and trying something outside their usual comfort zone. Over time, something as simple as delivering a line in front of a class can progress to performing a complete scene in front of an audience.
Skills that extend beyond the stage
The benefits of performing arts training are not necessarily limited to children who want to become actors or singers. Acting can encourage clearer communication and self-expression. Singing can help students develop confidence in their own voice, while group performances encourage teamwork, concentration and an awareness of others.
Learning a script or preparing for a performance also requires commitment. Students experience the process of practising something that may initially be difficult, receiving feedback, improving it and eventually presenting the finished performance to an audience. These are skills that can be valuable at school and in everyday life as well as on stage.
Opportunities for young performers
FAME Creative Talent offers performing arts classes alongside specialist acting, singing and LAMDA training. The Warrington school also introduces students to acting for camera and audition techniques, providing additional experience for young performers interested in exploring opportunities within theatre, television and film.
FAME also operates a casting agency, helping to provide a connection between training and opportunities within the wider performance industry. For some students, this may form the beginning of a longer journey within performing arts. For others, the greatest achievement may simply be having the confidence to walk onto a stage and perform in front of an audience.
